Realizing that being forced to wait as long as three months just to be added as a new patient was simply unacceptable, the progressive team at the Cassopolis Family Clinic Network refuses to wait any longer to fulfill the community’s needs. Thus, they have established a formal ground breaking ceremony for next Wednesday, September 12th preparatory to a new $8.5-million medical facility.
The newest member of the Cassopolis Family Clinic Network will be erected at the site of the former Eastgate Shopping Plaza which is located at 1951 Oak Street in Niles Township.
The new facility is designed to replace the Niles Community Health Center situated at 24 N. St. Joseph Avenue in Niles because they have seriously outgrown the space.
The network also owns the Niles Community Health Center Dental anchored at 122 Grant Street in Niles. That facility will remain where it is at. The new building will, however, become home to the Niles Community Health Center and Obstetrics & Gynecology offices which are currently housed at 60 N. St. Joseph Avenue. Their relocation will coincide with completion of the new facility on Oak Street. Officials say the timeline pinpoints the move for the fall of 2019.
The Eastgate property has been dormant for years, and Rose Middleton-Willson, who serves at Marketing Coordinator for the Cassopolis Family Clinic Network has been quoted as saying her organization felt that would be “A great area to put in a health center,” inasmuch as it is accessible to everyone and, “It’s only a mile and a half from the hospital.”
With a facility staffed by three health providers and just six examination rooms serving more than 3,200 patients, the math has been difficult to deal with leaving those hoping to become new patients on the outside looking in for far too long before being accepted into the fold.
In contrast, the new facility will expand to more than 31,500 square feet and feature as many as 26 examination rooms. As a result, the clinical team is hopeful of nearly doubling their caseload of patients going forward. Other amenities beyond physician services, OB and behavioral health at the clinic include a drive-up window and onsite pharmacy.
The public is invited to take part in the ground breaking ceremonies at 9am on Wednesday, September 12th, and all you have to do is let the team know you’ll be there by contacting Rose Middleton-Willson at 269-445-3874 no later than September 10th.
