“Devastating” Suspicious Lincoln Fire Under Investigation

A popular Lincoln Township lakefront destination has been completely destroyed by an early morning fire that remains under investigation at this hour, and police are asking for your help in the case. Lincoln Charter Township Firefighters posted on their Facebook fan page shortly after 11:30 am today news that the North Lake Pavilion on Ice Street in the township suffered a “devastating fire” in the pre-dawn hours and is a complete loss.

Here is what authorities posted a short while ago:

“Lincoln Charter Township is sadden(ed) to inform our residents that there was a devastating fire at our North Lake Pavilion in the earlier morning hours Tuesday 7/17. The pavilion and restrooms are a complete loss.

The fire is being investigated by Lincoln Township Fire Department, Lincoln Township Police Department and the State of Michigan Fire Marshal. If anyone has any information regarding the incident please contact the Lincoln Township Police Department right away at 269-429-2444.

If you had an event at North Lake Park the township will be reaching out to you with your options. We will have port-a-johns on site as soon as possible. Please stay away from the fire scene as it is still an active investigation. The contents will be removed as soon as permissible.”

The post strongly suggests that the fire was of a suspicious nature and authorities are asking the public for help in getting to the bottom of the case.

North Lake Park is just off of Grand Mere Road, sandwiched between the Lincoln Charter Township Park Beach on the north and Grand Mere State Park on the south. It’s a very popular spot for picnics, families with small children, fishermen, kayakers, hikers and others enjoying the great outdoors.

The investigation continues.
