When Tina Latham-Enix launched her new venture in St. Joseph last fall, garnering a gubernatorial appointment to a prestigious state oversight board was likely the last thing on her mind, but that is exactly what has happened and it will prove to be a very timely appointment at that.
Tina is the owner and operator of the Creative Therapy School of Massage, anchored at 2907 Division Street in Suite 110 in the Southtown neighborhood of St. Joseph. Just days before her first official class graduates in two weeks, Gov. Rick Snyder has appointed Tina to the Michigan Board of Massage Therapy.
Housed within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 11-member board plays an advisory role overseeing the practice of massage therapists in the Great Lakes State.
Gov. Snyder says, “Tina’s vast experience with massage therapy gives me confidence she will bring great knowledge and perspective to this board.” She is a licensed massage therapist and also the owner of In Health Massage Therapy alongside her Creative Therapy School of Massage.
Latham-Enix holds a medical massage therapy certificate from Blue Heron Academy in Grand Rapids, and she will represent massage therapists by filling a vacancy created by the resignation of Rachel Viitala from the state advisory panel.
Tina will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2019, and her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Michigan Senate.
Last fall her Creative Therapy School of Massage, LLC was approved by the State of Michigan for the new 625 hour Massage Certification Program.
That program began on September 5th for a 9 month run every Monday – Thursday. Students had the option of Day 9a-1p or Evening Classes running from 5p-9pm.
Once certified, the state required MBLEx test has to be passed to receive one’s Michigan Massage Therapy License.
The Creative Therapy School of Massage provides a comprehensive, academically challenging 625 hour program to prepare students for employment in the profession of Massage Therapy and the techniques necessary to succeed in the industry.
Tina’s program teaches the balance of science and artistic expression into the massage session.
