What started out as a nightmare will soon become a dream come true for Jennifer Moore and her fans at Back on the Rack. That’s the upscale resale, consignment and tuxedo shop which was forced to move from a well-anchored five year run at her previous location.
She tells us this morning, the wait is over for the customers of Back on the Rack in Watervliet. Moore has set her Grand Re-Opening event for Friday, April 6th and Saturday, April 7th. Her timing couldn’t be more impeccable inasmuch as prom season is in full bloom across Michigan’s Great Southwest. Moore says that many young men in southwest Michigan needing tuxedos can find top designer brands there at the lowest prices around. Young ladies headed to the prom will be dazzled by more than 400 formal gowns available, including over 100 brand new options from Alfred Angelo, Andrew Adela, and Jasmine gowns.
Moore also notes that you don’t have to wait until the doors are officially open, as anyone looking to rent a tux or view the gowns before the Grand Re-Opening date can call her at 269-463-7225. Chances are pretty good that she will be there finishing up the new space, but she suggests you call first, just in case.
Moore was forced to move from the 5 year location in downtown Watervliet in January, and posted a message on the store’s Facebook page telling customers about her dilemma. We picked up her story and shared it with you here on Moody on the Market, and she tells me that she received hundreds of comments from customers and members of the surrounding communities offering help to pack, haul, and find a new space.
Jennifer says, “I was overwhelmed by the response from so many people who love shopping here and did not want the store to close. I never had any intentions of closing, but I certainly didn’t know where I was going to relocate and I really wanted to stay in Watervliet.”
Two days after her post, she was approached by a Watervliet township building owner offering space that would require 6 weeks of renovation. Jennifer decided the location would work well for her business and agreed to wait. Now that the new space is completed, it has begun taking shape and filling up with new, and never-offered-before merchandise. She also says, “Don’t worry, if you had your eye on an item before the move, there’s a good possibility it’s still available,” and adds, “The only way to know for sure is to show up at the Grand Re-Opening on April 6th & 7th.”

- Back on the Rack will be open 10am-6pm both days.
- A ribbon cutting will take place at 10:30am on Friday.
- Refreshments will be served both days.
- There will be drawings for gift certificates from Back on the Rack and other area businesses on both days.
- Special guest on Saturday from 1pm-to-3pm will be local author Rosanne Bittner, who will be offering book signings on several of her latest novels. She currently has over 65 books published.
