Ryan Ogle’s role as a steward to the community of Michigan’s Great Southwest seems to grow in stature with every passing KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, and the innovations his team undertakes keep advancing the needle of community benefits for our entire region. Living testimony to that arrived on our doorstep today when his team at the PGA of America revealed organizations selected for their Non-Profit Fundraising Program for the 2018 Championship.
That means that the organizations from around the community announced today will be allowed to retain 50-percent of the total ticket sales that each organization sells to this year’s Championship slated for the Memorial Day weekend at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Club at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor.
Ryan said today, “The PGA of America is committed to making a positive, long-lasting impact in our host communities.” As Championship Director, Ogle says, “The groups that were selected this year range from athletic organizations to those that provide medical and educational assistance to deserving youth. We are fortunate that there are so many great non-profit organizations that have stepped up to support this Championship. We look forward to seeing these groups at this year’s event.”
The Non-Profit Fundraising participants for this year’s Championship include the following:
- Grace Lutheran Church and School
- The Symphony League of Southwest Michigan
- Harbor Habitat for Humanity
- Pennies From Heaven, a non-profit organization providing financial assistance and comfort to young adults, ages 21-30, during their battle with cancer
- YMCA SW Michigan
- Computers 4 Cause, which donates your new or used computer to Charity Michigan
- Benton Harbor Promise Foundation
- The First Tee of Benton Harbor
- Kalamazoo Junior Golf Association
- Lakeshore High School Boys Golf
- Benton Harbor Public Library
- JOY Camp
- The First Tee of West Michigan
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo
- myTEAM TRIUMPH – Michigan, an athletic ride-along program created for children, teens, adults and veterans with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events
- Feeding America West Michigan
- Emergency Shelter Services
- Voice Change Hope Alliance, an organization in Berrien County focused on fighting prescription drug and Heroin addiction
- United Way of Southwest Michigan
Alloyd Blackmon from the Benton Harbor Promise Foundation says, “We are honored to have been selected as one of the non-profit fundraising organizations for this year’s Championship.” She notes, “The kids look forward to this event in Benton Harbor, where they are able to watch the best golf professionals in the world and participate in a variety of activities for young people.
