As Championship Director of the 79th KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, Ryan Ogle is working hard to maximize the exposure of the people and places of Michigan’s Great Southwest during the Championship, encouraging visitors to stick around throughout the week of the event and even plan to return for future visits to the shores of Lake Michigan. As the Championship returns to Harbor Shores this coming Memorial Day weekend, Ogle’s team at the PGA of America is partnering with the Southwest Michigan Makers Trail to create an elevated viewing experience and highlight some of the best sips and pours from the region.
Known as the Makers Trail 19th Hole, golf fans are encouraged to take advantage of this special ticket option, which will showcase local wineries, breweries and spirits from across Southwest Michigan. The 2018 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship will take place May 22-27 at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor.
Championship Director Ogle says, “We are looking forward to this new partnership, which will highlight the wide variety of craft breweries and master wine makers that this area has become known for in recent years.” He adds, “We value the support that we receive from the local community and our team is proud to recognize many of the local businesses in the area through this new partnership. We hope that craft beer enthusiasts, wine aficionados, and cocktail connoisseurs will relish this new opportunity and exciting way to view our Championship.”
Located between the 16th green and 17th tee, the Makers Trail 19th Hole will feature these Makers:
- Watermark Brewing Co., the recipient of the 2018 Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award
- Silver Harbor Brewing Company, which claimed a Gold Medal in the 2017 U.S. Open Beer Championships
- North Pier Brewing Company

We’re looking forward to showcasing our history and brewing traditions at the Championship and, once again, welcoming golf enthusiasts and travelers to our home in Benton Harbor.”
