The expanding health landscape in South Haven now includes a new clinic for counseling and psychological services thanks to a partnership between Lakeland Health and the Southwestern Medical Clinic.
The recently established Southwestern Medical Clinic Christian Counseling and Psychological Services center has set up a new satellite location in the Van Buren County community with a new counselor seeing patients from that office twice a week.
The new clinic, located at 05055 Blue Star Highway, is anchored by Meredith Sgambelluri, MA, LLPC, who is currently seeing patients at the facility on Mondays and Thursdays each week.
Sgambelluri earned a Master of Science in Counseling from Spring Arbor University. Her areas of interest include helping women who have been through sexual abuse, domestic violence, and family issues, as well as clients struggling with weight and self-esteem issues. The new counselor also specializes in working with children with attention deficit disorders, self-esteem issues, and both the anxiety and depression traditionally related to those issues. Prior to her career in counseling she was a teacher for 30 years.
Sgambelluri says, “My role as a counselor is to give my clients the tools they need to help them uncover who they are and overcome the obstacles they see in their path.”
The practice helps individuals struggling with a wide range of emotional, psychological, and spiritual concerns. Providers are not affiliated with any specific denomination or church and are respectful of all spiritual perspectives. A total of 10 providers currently see patients throughout southwest Michigan, with office locations in Buchanan, Coloma, Niles, Stevensville, St. Joseph, and South Haven.
