I-94 Bridge Work Will Produce Delays & Barricades in BH & Stevensville

You know there will be the inevitable grousing, perhaps even some swearing, when unsuspecting drivers in the region stumble onto road closures for bridge repairs over the next couple of months, but you’ll do well to take note of a couple that may impede your forward progress at inopportune moments.

The Michigan Department of Transportation, or MDOT, will play havoc with interstate access at Pipestone Road from now through the end of November, and those won’t just be slowdowns…those are outright closures. Another project on the I-94 Business Loop, also known as Red Arrow Highway, will impact travel to a lesser extent with occasional lane closures over that same time frame.

MDOT says ramps from Pipestone Road to both Eastbound 1-94 and Westbound I-94 at Exit 29 in Benton Charter Township will be closed for bridge repairs beginning today and running through November 30th. That project will also occasional produce lane closures on Pipestone under the I-94 bridge deck from time to time. The project is detailed on the MDOT map at Mi Drive online.

Meanwhile, Stevensville area drivers will deal with bridge repairs at Exit 23, the BL-94, Red Arrow Highway exit by Meijer. That bridge work project will also run from today through Thursday, November 30th and will result in lane closures on Red Arrow. That project map is also detailed on MDOT’s Mi Drive site online.

The summer of construction season is clearly being extended into the fall shoulder as well to capitalize on decent weather as long as possible.
