In a lightning fast society where Twitter feeds from the Commander-in-Chief change the course of policy, if not history itself, in the blink of an eye, businessmen and women need to be at the top of their game in this 24/7 world. As Business Leaders for Michigan boss Doug Rothwell himself forewarned a year ago at his organization’s Michigan CEO Summit, “The world is changing faster and faster, and these summits help business and community leaders identify and support actions that will grow a strong future.”
Now Rothwell, as President & CEO of the Business Leaders for Michigan, has his team rolling out your invitation to get on that fast track by joining their 6th annual Michigan CEO Summit on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. It will be a first-class, first-person, opportunity to hear from a group of dynamic speakers on what they’re doing to keep their companies competitive and learn how you can stay ahead of the curve in an ever-changing global marketplace.
Last year more than 400 senior leaders from the fields of business, policy, philanthropy, education and advocacy gathered at that same Westin Book Cadillac to discuss innovative ways for companies – and the State of Michigan – to compete in a global economy. The conference explored emerging technologies that are disrupting businesses and providing opportunities to differentiate from the competition. They also got a preview of critical economic benchmarking data that showed Michigan continuing to experience growth, but facing significant issues to becoming a Top Ten state for employment, personal income, and productivity.
If you missed last year’s event, sign up now to listen, network and engage with top leaders at a truly do-not-miss event, especially if you missed out because of a sell out. The event has been sold out five years in a row, so you’ll do well to set aside procrastination and instead set aside your seat at this powerhouse event.
This year’s Opening Keynote Speaker is slated to be Brian Walker, President & CEO of Herman Miller, a more than 100-year old furniture company headquartered in Zeeland, that places great importance on design, the environment, community service, and the health and well-being of its customers and employees. Walker will share his unique insights for innovating in the twenty-first century to ensure your business is ready to succeed in today’s rapidly-changing marketplace and workplace.
The Michigan CEO Summit is open to anyone interested in attending the event. The event typically attracts business, community, policy and opinion leaders from around the state.
The registration fee for the Summit is $150 and must be pre-paid by credit card or check. That fee covers your Summit materials and admittance to the event. It also includes breakfast and lunch at the event, however it does not cover travel or hotel accommodations.
Rothwell told the group last year this his agency’s data, “Shows Michigan has succeeded in stabilizing the economy, lowering key business costs, and becoming more competitive since 2009.” He added at that session, “Things are generally getting better, but not fast enough to become a Top Ten state at the rate we are progressing.” What’s the prognosis now? Rothwell will share new data, fresh updates and considerably more insight on gains being made, shortfalls to overcome, the battles that are being won and those that continue to hold us back.
Last year, Michigan had made its biggest gains in improving cost competitiveness by improving the corporate tax and overall business tax climate, however the challenges were still significant. At that point, Michigan’s most significant challenges included low education attainment (29th), career and college readiness (36th), urban road conditions (40th) and economic development expenditures (30th). Have those numbers changed for the good? Summit participants this fall will gain new insight into all of the numbers and hear from other CEOs with updates.
Now is the time to reserve a front row seat on the State of the State through the eyes of the Business Leaders for Michigan, comprised of the top corporate chief executive officers in the Great Lakes State. Click the link below to access the registration site:
