It would appear that Phil Amodeo was not as good a fit at the helm of the Southwestern Michigan Association of Realtors as the group had hoped for. After replacing the retired Gary Walter last year, Amodeo lasted only about 4 or 5 months in the job before stepping down in February. However, the association is singing the praises of their new guy, announced today by George Lucas who is President of the Association.
Alan Jeffries will take the top spot after Walter returned for a couple of months in an interim role. Jeffries should have a considerably stronger handle on the local market than Amodeo who came from out of state. Jeffries is from Allegan and Lucas says the group is very excited to have him on board, saying, “Alan brings more than 20 years of experience in the real estate industry as a broker/office sales manager for Century 21 Advanced Realty and owner of Michigan Real Estate Services in the Kalamazoo market. He also has served as township assessor in Saugatuck Township and as the supervisor/assessor/zoning administrator for Valley Township.”
Prior to accepting his new position in SWMI, Jeffries was very active member of the Greater Kalamazoo Association of Realtors. He was elected board president in 2017 after serving as president elect in 2016. In 2016, he was the chair of the Education Committee and was the vice chair for the committee in 2015. In 2017, Jeffries was also the vice chair of the Advocacy Committee.
Jeffries is characterized by the group as committed to his profession, and is a long term member of the Michigan Assessor Association, National Association of Realtors and the Michigan Realtors.
Jeffries has a business degree from Kalamazoo Valley Community College and served in the Unites State Marine Corp.
