Please provide an example of when you feel you were at your very best in taking action on the job or in your role.
Most recently, I felt I was at my very best when I was able to help an organization secure a USDOL sponsorship for an apprenticeship program they had worked months to build. Met with obstacle after obstacle, I provided hope, support, and expertise to help them achieve a much sought after goal of theirs. Helping others reach their goals remains one of the key highlights of my role.
What’s the funniest thing that ever happened on your road to success?
The funniest thing that happened is documented on video and is truly what makes it memorable. I was working in the office with my amazing (now former) coworkers who were engaged in a spirited conversation. I took a call and went to leave the shared space so we could continue our respective conversations. What I did not notice was that I had left my file drawer open and I tripped and fell flat on my face. The video shows my fall, legs in the air and all. I took a moment, rolled over, and then picked up the phone and continued my conversation. For such an unfortunate situation, the video got lots of laughs from myself and my coworkers that I so graciously shared it with. The best part of the video was my coworkers reaction as she leaned over to see what happened while nonchalantly taking a bite of food. Although my shins took a beating that afternoon, I will always look back and laugh at the entirety of the scenario that video portrayed.
Who most inspires your personal drive for success every day?
My personal drive for success on a daily basis remains my intrinsic passion. Passion to do well, help others, make a positive impact, and grow as a person are only a few examples of what drives me to success. Even if tasked with impossible or unenjoyable jobs or challenges, I work to find where my passion lies with that project and use that as my inspiration.
What is your best advice to women in Southwest Michigan looking to succeed, as you have, in business?
First, believe in yourself and second, find joy in all that you do. Meet every day with a willingness to help others, to learn, and to grow.
