How do you think that Bold Women of Business demonstrate being bold?
To me, being a bold woman of business means fearlessly pursuing goals, breaking down barriers, and challenging the status quo. I think that bold women of business demonstrate being bold by being willing to step out of their comfort zones and embrace uncertainty. They also trust their instincts and are not easily swayed by naysayers. Bold women in general, not just in business are resilient. They fight their way back from failures and setbacks, learning from their experiences and using them as stepping stones to future success. And I believe the most important way that bold women demonstrate being bold, is by paying it forward! They recognize the value of creating a supportive community and providing opportunities for other aspiring women to thrive.
Bold women are often defined by a number of descriptors. Please choose from the following descriptors to produce the top three that you would say most exemplify your personality?
Confident
Brave
Strong
Please provide an example of when you feel you were at your very best in taking action on the job or in your role.
I am at my absolute BEST when on stage hosting the annual FLEX: Female Leadership Excellence event. In that moment sitting alongside 4-6 incredibly talented, professional women; in front of a room full of driven, smart, unstoppable females. At that moment, I am energized and inspired by the incredible strength, enormous passion, and downright badass women I have the honor to be in the room with, get to know, work with, and cheer on.
What’s the funniest thing that ever happened on your road to success?
Hmm…I can’t really think of the funniest thing that’s happened to me…but, I can tell you that I myself, am a pretty hilarious person! (How’s that for a shameless plug, lol)
Who most inspires your personal drive for success every day?
My son, Morgan, and my husband Brian. For my son, my wish is to make him proud. I want him to know and understand the struggles I have endured, and be proud of how hard I have worked to succeed. I also want to show him how to support, advocate, and be a champion for his female counterparts. For my husband, I know that with him, I can do anything. He is my biggest fan. My greatest supporter. My rock and the one who constantly reminds me, that I can do whatever I set my mind to.
What is your best advice to women in Southwest Michigan looking to succeed, as you have, in business?
To all the incredible women in Southwest Michigan aspiring to succeed in the business world, I’d like to share some advice based on my own experiences. First and foremost, believe in yourself and your abilities. Confidence is the cornerstone of success. Embrace your strengths, intelligence, and passion. Don’t be afraid to be assertive and assert your ideas; your voice matters. Second, don’t be afraid to break through any gender-related barriers or stereotypes that you may encounter. Your gender should never limit your aspirations or ambitions. Stand up for yourself and other women in the workplace, promoting a culture of inclusivity and diversity. Third, surround yourself with the type of women you wish to be. Women who support other women. And God forbid, don’t listen to the haters! (They aren’t relevant) 😉 Embrace your strengths, persevere through challenges, and let your passion drive you towards your goals. You have the power to make a significant impact in your career and your community. Go out there and make it happen!
What does your selection to the ranks of the Bold Women of Business from Moody on the Market mean to you?
I am extremely humbled by this recognition. Not for the award itself though, I am humbled by the nomination. For someone to take the time to submit my name for this award means that (hopefully) along the way, I have inspired or lifted up someone else, and if that is true, then I have truly succeeded.
