One of the region’s most successful and enduring campaigns to feed the hungry gears up again this week. 97-5 Y Country’s ‘Stuff a Truck’ is at Roger’s Foodland in St. Joseph starting Monday.
Y Country’s Paul Layendecker tells us this is the 26th year the crew will be collecting non-perishable food donations to be given to those in need by the Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency.
“The Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency is basically the local food bank for Berrien, Cas County, and some of Van Buren County,” Layendecker said.
Layendecker adds they’ll also take personal care items. The Y Country on air staff and volunteers will be at Roger’s Foodland Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and also on Saturday morning taking donations.
You can just go into the store, pick something up, and then hand it off to Y Country. The Roger’s Foodland folks usually have suggested, needed items conveniently located near the front of the store to make donating easy for shoppers.
Layendecker says it’s always inspiring to see the generosity of southwest Michigan as people seek to lend a hand to those who need it the most. You can also give cash support online at 975YCountry.com.
