South Haven is receiving a grant of more than $9.1 million for water system improvements.
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy announced more than $267 million in MI Clean Water grants around the state this week with South Haven among the larger recipients.
The South Haven Area Water-Sewer Authority will use the grant for the construction of a new water tower, a booster station, water main replacements, and the replacement of approximately 2,100 lead service lines. The existing standpipe and booster station will be decommissioned once construction is complete.
State Representative Joey Andrews says the funds will “greatly help provide necessary upgrades to our community’s water infrastructure and ensure every household has access to clean drinking water while reducing its cost.”
