One of the area’s ‘quietest’ major charities steps up on July 9 for a big fundraiser in conjunction with the Krasl Art Fair on The Bluff in downtown St. Joseph. The Avenue Family Network has a ‘vague’ name but funds some very specific and important activities that impact the lives of troubled families and special needs adults in Southwest Michigan. Notably, the group is one of the major funders of the facility often referred to as ‘The Safe Shelter’ in Benton Harbor, which provides a haven for Moms and kids who find themselves without a safe, stable roof over their heads due to a myriad of family and relationship issues.
You’ll be able to support the cause while enjoying a scrumptious variety of summer desserts at the Avenue Family Network Ice Cream Social on the Veranda at The Whitcomb on Sunday, July 9. A perfect ‘time out’ from your excursion through the Krasl Art Fair!
Here are more details in a statement from The Avenue Network:
The Avenue Family Network Auxiliary is thankful for the community’s support for our annual Ice Cream Social in past years. Since 1968 it has been our major fundraiser. The Auxiliary is grateful for Honor Credit Union’s sponsorship to help offer the Ice Cream Social to the community.
Our 55th Ice Cream Social is Sunday, July 9 from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM. We are happy to continue our tradition of selling slices of homemade cakes and pies, served with ice cream, on the shady veranda of the Whitcomb Senior Living Community. This provides a relaxed setting while visiting the Krasl Art Fair.
Tickets are available on that day for $5, or from any Avenue Auxiliary member.
The Avenue Network helps many individuals and their families in Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties through the following agencies:
● The Cora Lamping Center for Survivors of Domestic & Sexual Violence offers emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, job training and outreach services. It is the only Center in a three county area.
● Harbor House and Autumn House Adult Day Services provide a safe and inviting environment for adults with memory loss and physical impairments.
● West Michigan Guardianship offers conservatorship, guardianship, representative payee, and power of attorney services to individuals who cannot manage without assistance. One hundred percent of your tax-deductible donation will go to The Avenue Family Network
Moody On The Market is proud to be a supporter of the Avenue Network over the years. And we hope you[‘ll find time on your Krasl Art Fair Sunday to visit the Ice Cream Social and lend your support to its well-deserving work.
