$500 Reward Offered Following Boost Mobile Robbery in Benton Harbor

We’re just now learning of an armed robbery at the Boost Mobile store on Pipestone in Benton Harbor that took place Monday night as employees headed out with receipts from the day’s business to be taken for night deposit. Benton Harbor Public Safety Chief Dan McGinnis is asking for the public’s help in tracking down the robber who held the place up around 7:30pm Monday night, January 22nd.

McGinnis says Boost Mobile employees were departing with the night deposit monies from 957 Pipestone when a lone gunman waiting in a dark corner outside of the building ordered the employees back into the store. Once there he ordered the staff to hand over the money and then escaped with approximately $1,200 in cash receipts and a cell phone from the store’s inventory.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit was called in to track, but lost the scent about a block away from the scene.

McGinnis says the suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and grey sweatpants, with a white bandanna around his face. He was also armed with a black semi-automatic handgun. He is reported to stand about 5-foot-4 with a skinny build.

The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the identity and arrest of the perpetrator.

Anyone with information on the case can call the BHDPS Detective Bureau tip line at (269) 927-0293 to help solve the crime, which remains under investigation.
