For the moment, the new Lakeland Medical Center Pavilion is largely a major-league excavation site with dozens of rumbling trucks barrel-rolling through, prepping for a $160-million project that is still three years away from being completed. However, when that project is complete a couple of gleaming new private, glass-enclosed meeting rooms plotted in the makeover will emerge thanks to a #100,000 donation to the Lakeland Health Foundations from 1st Source Bank.
1st Source Bank, headquartered in South Bend but with a growing presence throughout Michigan’s Great Southwest as well, recently donated $100,000 in support of those two meeting rooms slated to be located within the newly designed and expanded Courtyard Café and an adjacent business lounge to be located on the second floor of the new Lakeland Medical Center Pavilion.
Scott Geik, who serves as Vice President of Business Banking for 1st Source Bank says, “With the increased demand for healthcare in our community, 1st Source Bank is pleased to make this contribution.” Geik points out, “Not only will the new space allow individuals and families to meet with their healthcare team in a private setting, but this donation demonstrates our commitment to the community.”
Brandi Smith-Gordon, President of Lakeland Health Foundations says, “Being in the hospital can be a stressful time for families who have a loved one staying with us. We also know how important it is for families to have space for self-care while they’re visiting the hospital.” She adds, “We’re so grateful for this gift from the 1st Source Bank because it will provide private meeting spaces and a nearby business lounge where people can work, eat, meet with physicians, or comfort other family members at a critical time.”
To date, community members have donated more than $4.9 million in support of the Pavilion which is slated for completion in 2020.
