There will be a diaper giveaway next week in Hartford as Corewell Health, Priority Health, and United Through Motherhood seek to help struggling families.

Priority Health’s Michelle Harris tells us they’ve teamed up with the two organizations to give out one package of diapers each to those who stop by Corewell Health Primary Care on South Center Street between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. next Wednesday.

“Priority Health has recognized that there’s a need for diapers in our communities,” Harris said. “So, in an effort to collaborate with community organizations and show compassion to the community, we’ve partnered with some diaper banks to provide diapers.”

Harris says one in three families suffers from diaper insufficiency, causing parents to miss work and babies to remain in dirty diapers for too long. Priority Health is sponsoring United Through Motherhood’s efforts to distribute diapers in the community all month.

“We sponsored United Through Motherhood for the month of June for the diapers that they provide. There should be around 300 families that we can serve.”

Anyone in need can stop by the giveaway to receive free diapers.

Harris says they’ll also have a Medicaid specialist on hand to answer questions, information on transportation help, and educational materials on health services. She expects to serve about 80 families with the giveaway.
