This Saturday will bring the unveiling of the latest iteration of 415 AM beer at North Pier Brewing Company in Benton Harbor.

415 AM beer is specially brewed by the company each summer to raise money for the Alex Mandarino Foundation. Spokesperson Ryan Cheevers tells us the Alex Mandarino Foundation raises awareness of childhood cancer in honor of five-year-old Alex, who died from cancer in 2013.

“The 415 AM, which is a beer that was created in honor of Alex Mandarino, represents Alex’s birthday, April 15th, and the AM represents his initials,” Cheevers said.

Cheevers says 415 AM was created eight years ago with the idea it would be a one-time thing, but it’s proven so popular, they keep bringing it back.

“What’s unique about this beer is it’s not the same beer every year. So, where you have Bell’s Oberon, which is very popular and incredible, what’s kind of cool about the 415 AM is it gets changed every year, and so I can’t even tell you what the beer tastes like because we don’t know yet.”

Everyone will get their first taste of this year’s 415AM on Saturday when the beer is unveiled at North Pier Brewing Company. They’re having a baseball-themed party starting at noon and continuing through closing. Everyone’s invited and urged to come dressed in baseball-related attire.
