A Dowagiac woman returned to the popular game show Jeopardy! Tuesday night.
Dowagiac resident Jennifer Quail, an author and wine-tasting consultant was a contestant in the 2024 Jeopardy Invitational Tournament. She has previously appeared and won big on the show. An eight time champion, she’s taken home more than a quarter million dollars.
During the “tell me who you are” portion, host Ken Jennings asked a little more about what Quail does when she’s not on Jeopardy — specifically about a pony she purchased.

“One of the (groups) affected by (COVID) was the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company’s annual pony auction. I’ve always wanted a Chincoteague pony. And they have to move the foals every year to keep the herd down, so they put (the auction) online. And I’m sitting here like, ‘I have all this Jeopardy! money, I’ve always wanted one of these ponies. What the heck?’ I purchased one of the Chincoteague ponies.”

Quail says the pony’s name is Ginger.
At the end of last night’s contest, the last category was Historic Groups, she bet $7,200, but answered incorrectly. She ended with a cool balance of zero. Not all was lost though, according to the Jeopardy website she still goes home with $10,000 for playing in the tournament.
